An Easy Coast Path Walk with Big Views and Wildlife
This short and scenic walk takes you out to the tip of Baggy Point, offering dramatic views over Croyde Bay, Bideford Bay, and beyond to Hartland. The wide, open route makes it great for families, with plenty to look out for — from seabirds nesting in spring to old wreck markers and whale bones along the way.
In spring, the cliffs are dotted with pink thrift and white sea campion, while autumn brings passing migratory birds and the chance of spotting raptors like merlins or peregrines.
Though the walk is easy, the cliffs are steep in places, so children and dogs should be kept close at hand. It’s a good walk for well-behaved dogs, especially outside of busy times.
Places to Eat and Drink
After your walk, The Thatch in Croyde village is a popular choice, offering hearty food and a welcoming atmosphere. For lighter bites or a beachside treat, The Porthole café serves great coffee, ice cream, and meals with sea views — perfect for a casual break with a view.
